Armoa näkyvissä – Grace in Sight
As I write this, it is Reformation Day. In 1517, Martin Luther initiated the Reformation—a movement with far-reaching consequences. Above all, Luther rediscovered a lost treasure—one that had always been present in the Bible and had been upheld by the apostles and the followers of Jesus for centuries. Salvation and the righteousness gifted by God are received by grace alone, through faith alone, for the sake of Christ alone, and through the Word of God alone.
Sometimes in life, precious treasures and gifts can be lost or tarnished. The good news is that they can be found again. For God, there are no hopeless cases; He can even find the lost sheep.
The Christmas season—the celebration of Jesus’ birth—is also approaching. We will be celebrating it at our current location on Sperling Avenue for the last time. I hope you will be able to join us for both our Christmas bazaar and our Christmas services. There is surely a sense of bittersweet nostalgia in the air.
The new year brings new opportunities, as well as a new church building where we will begin gathering starting January 24th. Grace Lutheran Church is located at 7283 Nelson Avenue, Burnaby. Worships at Grace will be at 12 pm.
I personally like the sanctuary at Grace very much; it has a cozy, welcoming feel to it and is roughly the same size as our current space. It features exposed wooden structures, a beautiful altarpiece, and just the right amount of light. It is a great joy that a place like this has been found for us.
God is faithful, and He has taken care of His congregation. I also look forward to the possibility of finding some joint activity with the congregation at Grace. They are welcoming us with open hearts!
With Blessings,
Pastor Timo
