“Even through the locks…”
Finnish Easter hymn 104 “Light flashes from the cloud” tells of the resurrected Jesus appearance to his followers. The disciples gathered behind closed doors. They feared for their own lives and health. Jesus was captured, whipped, and died on the cross. How about them now?
Suddenly Jesus was standing among them. He was not detained by the locked doors either. Jesus wished for peace and promised them the Holy Spirit. Things started to go better than anyone could have ever guessed. Fear no longer held the followers of Jesus. They were really joyful since Jesus was alive. He overcame the power of sin and death. That’s why they told the message to others.
During the pandemic, we have lived socially isolated life. Many have experienced loneliness, worry, and even fear. Last year at Easter, things looked very bleak. This year, Easter will come at the same time as vaccinations are increasing. There is hope that this disease will be gradually eradicated. Jesus can touch our lives, whether we are isolated or not. He is not bound by any boundaries or obstacles. He can help you and me in all our life situations. “Call on me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me.” (Ps. 50:15).
Happy Easter!
